Gabbeh or gabba carpets are a Persian carpet. They are a hand-woven pile rug of coarse quality. Gabbeh is a Persian word meaning natural, raw, uncut or rough. This term was used for the rugs in the 19th century as they were generally coarsely knotted. Gabbeh is known for its colorful details coupled with vivacious geometrical designs. Usually woven by women, they are dyed using natural dyes. Apart from being made in Iran, they are also weaved in India. At Qaleen, we feature beautiful Gabbeh rugs sourced from Iran and India.
